Invader
Isaac Asimov, William F. WuNorby and Jeff, plus Oola the all-purpose pet and Zargl the dragon, rush to the planet Jamya to help the Norby’s robot ancestor Mentor First and the Grand Dragon against the aliens who hate technology. When Norby is rendered helpless, Jeff is stuck without a way of getting home to the space academy, much less saving Jamya and his friends. Jeff has to try reasoning with the aliens who believe that they are saving the environment but don’t distinguish between the uses and abuse of technology. In their own inimitable style the Asimovs continue Norby’s adventure with good-natured fun and a dash of time travel, telepathy, and an appearance by Oola’s adorable baby.
About the Authors:
Janet Asimov, with her late husband, Isaac, wrote the Norby series about a feisty half-alien robot. In the novels, Norby’s name comes from the original label---“Norb’s Nails”--- on his barrel body, but the authors actually stole the name from an early cyberneticist named Norbert Weiner. Janet is a retired M.D. and a non-retired writer who still lives in the Asimovs' beloved Manhattan, where Norby’s owner---a space cadet---also lives.
Isaac Asimov was a scientist, science fiction and fantasy writer. He was famously prolific and wrote over 700 books, among them the acknowledged classics Foundation and I Robot. He also co-wrote children’s books, including the Lucky Starr series, and the Norby Chronicles with his wife Janet.
